Joining in
- What does Kumpano cost?
- Nothing. There is no subscription and there are no in-app purchases.
- From what age?
- From 13. You enter your year of birth when you sign up. Anyone under 16 appears on public leaderboards under a pseudonym only. There is no real money in the app, only play money.
- Is there an Android version?
- Not at the moment. Kumpano runs on the iPhone.
- How do I get a beta seat?
- Send a short email to kontakt@kumpano.app. You get a reply with an invitation to TestFlight, Apple’s app for test versions. From there you install Kumpano like any other app. The beta is open in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
- How do I play with friends?
- You create a league and invite your friends. The league is the real game: every week everyone picks their five stocks, and on Friday you see who read the market best.
Game week and leagues
- How does a week run?
- On Monday you pick five stocks. From Tuesday to Friday real prices move your league table. On Friday the week is settled, the best players earn trophies, and the next round starts on Monday.
- Which stocks can I pick from?
- Around 580 large US and German companies, for example from the S&P 500, the Nasdaq-100 and the DAX. Indices and funds cannot be picked, only individual stocks.
- How is my result calculated?
- Each stock counts for a fifth. Your weekly result is the average of the five price changes since your pick, not the value of one lucky stock.
- Can the others see my stocks?
- Not during the week. Lineups are revealed once the week has been scored.
- What are the ten leagues?
- Tiers from the sidewalk to the summit. You climb with trophies: every Friday, trophies are added or taken away depending on your rank for the week. Every league is its own place in the app.
Exchange and academy
- What is the exchange in Kumpano?
- Your own portfolio with €10,000 in play money and real prices. You buy and sell whenever you like and see how you stand against the S&P 500. The portfolio exists only inside the app.
- How do I unlock the exchange?
- In one of three ways: with 1,000 learning points from the academy, with two complete weekly lineups, or with 3,000 trophies.
- Is it a real portfolio?
- No. Kumpano does not broker securities, accept stakes or pay anything out. It is a practice portfolio with real prices.
- What is the academy?
- 61 lessons in nine topics, from “What is a stock?” to valuing companies. Each takes two to five minutes and ends with a short quiz. You can try one lesson on this website. The lessons in the app are in German.
Money, law and data
- Is real money involved?
- No. You can’t deposit, win or lose anything. You play with play money, scored on real prices.
- Is Kumpano investment advice?
- No. Kumpano is a game. The app does not broker securities, accept stakes or give buy recommendations. What you do with real money is decided outside the app.
- What data does Kumpano store?
- What the game needs: email address, player name, year of birth, your lineups and results. Messages in the league chat are visible to your league only. Notifications on your phone only if you turn them on. Everything else is in the app’s privacy policy (German). You can delete your account in the app’s settings.
- Who is behind Kumpano?
